HMS King George V Model Ship Diorama (Aged as is her work-a-day)
The HMS King George V was the lead ship of the five British King George V-class battleships of the Royal Navy. Launched 21 February 1939.
About the HMS King George V Scale Model Ship
The HMS King George V model ship was custom built from the following information:
- The original construction drawings.
- Photographs obtained from the Imperial War Museum.
About the construction of the HMS King George V Model Ship
- The hull is built using the Plank-on-Bulkhead construction method
- The bulkheads and keel are cut from marine grade pine plywood
- The first layer of planking is done plank by plank using Mahogany planks
- The hull is then sheathed in fiberglass
- The decks are made of Anagre timber strips
- The superstructure is build from polystyrene.
- The guns are built from laser cut parts and castings
- The model is painted with acrylic paint
